There are several bi weekly and monthly jam sessions and ceilidhs held in western Cape Breton and eastern Nova Scotia on a regular basis. Admission is usually very reasonable averaging about $5.00 with a delicious lunch and cup of tea included. The musicians play for the love of the music rather than monetary compensation. The money earned goes to several good causes. You will find fiddlers, guitar players, harmonica players, and singers. The music is mostly celtic, folk, or pre 1980's country. Some sessions will continue through the summer.
This is the music that we play for ourselves. The fiddle will always be king and you will find it here in abundance, but other types of music entrenched as well. Watch Mike Little's website http://www.cbchoices.com/ for dates and times.
Slainte,
Sandy
