Sad News

Jerry left behind an especially strong fan base in Vermont. I once drove
from PA just to take a workshop with him in Montpelier, and will always be
grateful to the folks there for organizing it and the after-party that
followed.
How I used to drive all over Cape Breton to catch his gigs! And once I
chastised him for not keeping the schedule on his website current. "How am I
supposed to plan my vacation, Jerry, when your schedule is 6 months behind?"
He will be missed, yet he leaves behind such a wealth of knowledge, talent,
and inspiration. Thanks, Jerry.
Thanks to everyone for forwarding the newspaper articles and obits.

As everyone else, I feel aweful about Jerry's passing. I had heard his
music and wanted to see him for many years. He only performed once that I
know of on Long Island and I was out of town when he was here. Last year I
finally had the chance to see him in Vermont. He was certainly worth
waiting for. I saw him give two absolutely extraordinary performances. I
found out last month that he was once again going to be performing at the
New World Festival in Vermont. I was anxious to see him again. I thought
that I hit the jackpot having the chance to see this great fiddler twice in
two years. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. I will always have fond
memories of the two performances that I atended and will be forever
grateful that I made the trip to Vermont to see him.

I'm terribly sorry to hear this news. I have been looking forward to
seeing Jerry again at his tribute at Celtic Colours this year. I still
find that no matter how many records I collect, Jerry's keep calling me
to listen to them. And that will continue for many. This is a sad loss
to the music community in many ways. Thank you for letting us know down
here in Wisconsin, Dan.
