Frollig a' Braigh - Glendale Come Home Days

They used to call this kind of thing a "folk mass." And yes, I've been at ones that involved dancing during the service, although I can't say Scottish step-dancing in particular. There is no reason why there shouldn't be. If I am not mistaken the dancing was to invoke the dances the ancient Hebrews did in celebration of the Lord: "Again I will build you and you will be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel!
Again you will take up your tambourines, and go forth to the dances of
the merrymakers."
The dancing at folk masses and services and what some of a sterner Jansenist worldview might see as unamusing frivolities seem to have died off since the 1970s. But there is plenty of scriptural authority in the Old Testament for religious dance. Dance away to the fiddles, I say, if you like to do so.

Excerpt from this week's Inverness Oran regarding the Cultural Mass in Glendale this Saturday:
"There will be a Scottish cultural mass held in St. Mary of the Angels Church. This will include Gaelic hymns and, as well, a violin selection by Alex Francis MacKay of Kingsville, who is renowned for his Gaelic style fiddling."
Hope that answers your inquiry.
