Musical Border Crossing

The easiest times we ever had crossing the borders between Maine and New
Brunswick was long ago when my wife had a car license plate of "NOMOOSE."
On one occasion while crossing into Canada the officer actually took the
time to tell us places nearby where we might find moose! We often had to
explain the license plate, which my wife got after we failed to see Moose
during a New England vacation, when prior visits to New England and NY State
that I had made without my wife were chock full of moose encounters. She
was thus very disappointed, as she had her heart set on seeing a moose. The
licnese plate is long since gone (novelty plates being quite expensive in
Maryland), and we've soon many a moose since, sometimes closer than we'd
prefer (including on a dark night along the steep and twisty road in the
National Park, while heading from Cheticamp to the Dingwall Area)! Of
course, those were pre-9/11 and "Homeland Security" days.
