I will be very happy to sign such a petition and I would likewise be 
glad to write to the president and to my senators (my congressman is a 
Neanderthal—and that is a libel on Neanderthals—so writing him is just a 
waste of time, though I could forward him copies of my other letters). 
Does anyone have firm information on both the current and previous 
musician visa process that I can quote in my letters? I will be away for 
a couple of days, but will be glad to work on this when I get back; 
however, I am not a lawyer and don’t really understand the current 
regulations beyond that they are severely counterproductive in 
attracting foreign musicians to play for small American audiences and 
that this is a problem that badly needs to be fixed, since there is no 
good reason whatsoever for it.
